Percy’s Perch Chapter 2

One day, Percy was sitting at the bottom of his castle, when a young boy with very wet trousers came stomping past him.  Every time the boy took a step, his shoes went squerch and shot apple juice out into the lawn.

Percy wanted to laugh, but it was against the rules for people to know that gargoyles were alive, so he kept very quiet.

The boy took a drink bottle out of his knapsack and started twisting the lid off.  But the lid was stuck, and it wouldn’t budge, so the boy pulled harder and harder until POP! it flew off and smacked him right in the head!

“Ow!” said the boy, dropping the bottle on his foot with a crunch.

Percy couldn’t help himself.  He started to laugh.

The boy looked right over at him with big, wide, scared eyes.
