I am special

Let me put it this way: if there were a contest with four prizes, and only two other people entered besides me, typically, the other two people would win twice.  That’s my luck.

But no more!  No, tonight I discovered I have won a contest!  But no ordinary contest, this one is for writing!

Yes, head on over to The Storyverse and read my short story about the strangest thing I ever bought on the Internets.

If you haven’t been to the Storyverse before, well, shame on you.  It is one of the best and most truly absurd places I have seen on these here intertubes.  Here, let me demonstrate with a fragment of their FAQ:

Are you actually going to tell us what it’s about, or are you just going to yammer endlessly on?

I was going to go with “yammering,” but you seem like you have somewhere to be.

Bowling.

Does “bowling” mean “meth den?”

…Maybe.

These aren’t questions.

So yes, as you can see, they are my kind of people.  And their non-FAQ writing is awesome too.

Yes, I said awesome.  Don’t judge me.

Anyway, the fact remains: I won a contest, and you all should visit The Storyverse (regardless of my winningness, which is, as a matter of fact, indisputable).  I won’t hold it against you if you DON’T visit, but you should know you’ll be a lesser lifeform in my eyes, and I may spit on you occasionally.

That is all.

Note: Yes, if this is any indication, I will be utterly wretched to be around if RollBots manages to win a Gemini.  I would apologize, but winners don’t NEED to apologize.

  • No need to worry - I've called all the Gemini judges in my phone book and bad-mouthed you already. Well, I told them to read "The SteamDuck Chronicles"...

    Congrats.
  • I have no luck in these kinds of situations! If there was a competition and I was the only entrant, the judge would probably get the prize. Or the judge's neighbour, or cat.

That's why I never buy lottery or raffle tickets. I have the same amount of chance of winning if I do buy them as when I don't!

Enough rambling about my (wonderful) self. Congrats on the contest. You deserved it. :)

If I were to enter a competition where I was the only entrant, the prize would spontaneously combust rather than be won by me.

But maybe not anymore. I should try it and see...
  • You know, you could totally make this another one of your children's books. "The Pig and the Sore Winner Who Got Kicked in the Face, Bled to Death and Died a Slow Painful Death in a Ditch with No One to Love Him"

    I enjoy your subtlety.
